One Direction star Liam Payne sadly died after falling from the third floor balcony of his hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and new details of his final hour have emerged
Liam Payne spent his final hour at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel
Liam Payne had been trying to escape his hotel room before his tragic death, a hotel employee has claimed.
The One Direction star sadly died aged 31 last month after falling from the balcony of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. A transcript of a 911 call made shortly before Liam’s death has now been released.
During the call, a staff member at the hotel said they felt the singer’s life might have been “in danger” after he appeared to be intoxicated while causing a disturbance in the lobby. “I don’t know whether his life may be in danger. He is in a room with a balcony, and, well, we’re a little afraid,” the employee said.
A police report also alleged hotel staff knew Liam was threatening to use the balcony as a means to flee the building. However, he was still left in his room alone.
Sources told TMZ, Liam had a repeated aversion to being confined in hotel rooms. The Strip That Down hitmaker had used a balcony in an attempt to escape before, according to the publication.
Back in September, Liam’s security confined him to a room in a Florida rental property due to concerns over potential drug use. During that incident, he’s alleged to have attempted to escape via a balcony, using a garden hose to reach the ground.
CCTV footage from the day Liam died showed him to be visibly intoxicated and causing a disturbance in the lobby before staff intervened. Witnesses claimed he resisted, telling staff he did not want to stay in his room.
Liam also allegedly warned hotel staff he would use the balcony to escape if confined. Despite the warning, staff reportedly used a master key to enter Liam’s room and place him inside. After Liam was left alone in his room, he fell to his death.
His body was found with a bag strapped over his shoulder. The bag had not been present when he was carried from the lobby to his room on the third floor.
