SHOCKING REVENGE: USA Players FIGHT BACK After Canadian Fans Boo National Anthem—Instant BRAWL Breaks Out with Brutal Beatdown!
National anthem booed and players fight as USA vs Canada hockey game descends into chaos
The Bell Centre in Montreal was alive with the sound of boos as the national anthems played ahead of a hockey tournament match between the United States and Canada
Canadian fans at the Bell Centre in Montreal showered boos ahead of the eagerly awaited USA-Canada face-off in the 4 Nations, featuring a host of NHL stars.
This wasn’t the first time the Americans had been booed: they also experienced it before their victory over Finland on Thursday. As the game started, Matthew Tkachuk from America and Canada’s Brandon Hagel dropped their gloves and engaged in a brief fight, resulting in penalties for both.
Matthew’s brother Brady faced off with Sam Bennett – who plays alongside Matthew Tkachuk for the Florida Panthers – just moments later. The controversy didn’t end there: J.T. Miller, a star of the New York Rangers and Team USA, took on Colton Paraynko, rounding out the trio of fights after American goalkeeper Jordan Binnington covered the puck.
This was one of the most thrilling hockey games in recent times, with three fights occurring within nine seconds. Canada emerged with an advantage, earning a power play after Miller was penalized for a cross-check. “I didn’t think anything could top that intro,” Canada coach John Cooper told ABC during the first period. “Two passionate teams. It’s been a long time coming….this is not an ALl-Star game. This is a battle between the best of the best.”
Canadian superstar Connor McDavid thrilled the energized crowd when the Edmonton Oilers center scored 5:31 into the first period. The Americans responded soon after, with Jake Guentzel of the Tampa Bay Lightning equalizing five minutes later to balance the highly anticipated matchup.
A wave of notable U.S. media figures jumped into the conversation about the fiery matchup, including Bill Simmons, a renowned NBA fan and creator of The Ringer, who was clearly entertained. “You had me at ‘3 fights in 9 seconds,'” he tweeted with evident amusement. Barstool’s founder, Dave Portnoy, couldn’t resist chiming in with his shock: “I didn’t care about this USA hockey game but that was 19 fights ago. Holy s—.”
The events on the ice weren’t the only source of contention, as evidenced by boos directed at the U.S. anthem ahead of the team’s commanding 6-1 win over Finland at the Bell Centre on Thursday night. This unfavorable response from fans can be traced back to a contentious political decision by U.S. President Donald Trump, who laid down a 25 percent tariff on select Canadian imports – part of his assertive ‘America-first’ policy earlier in his new term.
Topping off the controversy, Trump even toyed with an audacious suggestion concerning Canada’s status regarding the U.S. “What I liked to see? Canada become our 51st state,” he declared earlier this month when responding to a query in the Oval Office.
“We give them protection, military protection, we don’t need them to build our cars – I’d rather see Detroit or South Carolina or or any one of our, Tennessee, any one of our states build the cars they can do it very easily.”
Trump added: “We don’t need them for the cars, we don’t need them for lumber, we don’t need them for anything, we don’t need them for energy – we got more energy then they do – we don’t need them for energy. So I say why are we doing this? Why are we willing to lose between 100 billion and 200 billion dollars a year – we don’t need them. So I’d love to see that, some people say that would be a long shot.”
