The Green Bay Packers are 3-2, but things are not going well with Romeo Doubs.
Last week, the team went on the road and beat the Los Angeles Rams 24-19.
Despite securing the victory, there was some drama surrounding wide receiver Romeo Doubs, who skipped two practices last week after he was reportedly unhappy with his role in the offense.
As a result of his behavior, the team suspended him for Week 5, but he returned to the practice field this week.
Ths week, reporters finally asked Doubs what is going on with him and he sounded like a man who was down.
“I had some things going on mentally,” he said, per Packers News.
“I do not feel comfortable getting too deep into that. Just you guys, hearing it from me, there are some things I have going on for myself. I did my best communicating and I’m just thankful that I’m here right now, able to still play ball.”
When asked specifically about his role in the Packers’ offense, Romeo Doubs declined to comment as he praised the unit.
“It’s a great offense here, got some ballplayers in our room. It’s much bigger than just me individually finding my role. In this league, it’s just winning football games … [The situation’s] not as big as they think it is. I know narratives are always created and just hearing it from me, it wasn’t that big of a deal.”
Doubs practiced all three days this week and is expected to play Sunday vs. the Cardinals at Lambeau Field, Head Coach Matt LaFleur confirmed.
He further added, “I absolutely wish I would’ve handled things differently.” When asked what, he said being “a better communicator.”
When asked if he addressed his teammates, Doubs said, “I did,” but he did not want to get too deep into the matter.
Prayers were sent his way by fans:
So far, in 2024, Romeo Doubs has 12 receptions and 169 receiving yards.
He is on pace for career highs in yards per game and yards per target.
Green Bay Packers Make It Clear That Romeo Doubs Is Playing This Week
On Friday, the Packers coach Matt LaFleur made it clear that Doubs will play in Sunday’s game against the Cardinals.
Doubs skipped two days of practice and meetings last week, which resulted in his one-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team.
Matt LaFleur only said “it’s personal” about Doubs’ absence.
Doubs indicated to reporters he was ready to move on.
