Would Tyreek Hill think about going full Colin Kaepernick?
Tyreek Hill was detained by Miami-Dade police officers while on his way to Hard Rock Stadium just hours before the Dolphins’ season opener.
Released footage showed him being grabbed by his head and arms, snatched from his vehicle, and slammed to the ground while handcuffs were applied to him.
So, would his issues with the police cause him to kneel during the National Anthem in response?
Hill spoke to the media on Wednesday and confirmed he would not do that.
“I’m not going to mix the two,” Hill told reporters. “I’m not going to take a knee. I’m not going to ask to defund the police. I’m not going to protest. I’m not going to do any of that.”
“This is my therapy. Football is my therapy. This is how I get away from a lot of stuff.”
The entire issue between the cops and Tyreek Hill stemmed from the placement of his window.
Initially, Hill told the officer not to knock on his window and added that he would be late for his game before rolling his window back up.
Not rolling down that window further escalated things.
Police Union Released New Allegations About Tyreek Hill’s Detainment
A Florida police union is not backing down from the Tyreek Hill situation and has now released new alleged details surrounding the detainment of the Miami Dolphins star receiver.
Body-cam footage from law enforcement officers involved in the altercation that led to the detainment was released, and it chronicled the events, beginning with law enforcement pulling Hill over and later showing officers removing the Miami Dolphins wide receiver from his vehicle and forcibly bringing him to the ground before cuffing him.
According to TMZ, the president of the South Florida Police Benevolent Association (SFLPBA), a police union, claimed Hill put “himself and others in great risk of danger” while driving to the Dolphins’ stadium.
“Mr. Hill was not immediately cooperative with the officers on scene who, pursuant to the policy and for their immediate safety, placed Mr. Hill in handcuffs,” the SFLPBA told TMZ. “Mr. Hill, still uncooperative, refused to sit on the ground and was therefore redirected to the ground.”
“Once the situation was sorted out within a few minutes, Mr. Hill was issued two traffic citations and was free to leave,” the organization added.
SFLPBA said it stands “with the actions of our officers” … “but looks forward to further open communication moving forward.”
