Caitlin Clark suffered a rare defeat in the WNBA since the All-Star break as the Minnesota Lynx beat the Indiana Fever 99-88 although the 22-year-old’s boyfriend did his best to lift her spirits at the Gainbridge FieldHouse.

The Fever raced out of the blocks in front of their local fans by winning the first quarter 27-19 but were slowly reeled in until the game flipped on its head following a terrible third quarter that saw the home side drop 17 points to the visitors.

And as their heads started to drop, Connor McCafferey aimed to list Clark‘s spirits with a loving hug courtside as she hid in his arms as he sensed he was the Fever‘s key to WNBA success in 2024.

One eagle-eyed courtside photographer, Bri Lewerke, quicky snapped the warm moment from the pair along with a series of others such as Clark hitting a smooth shot at the packed out arena, which the rookie sensation chose as her personal highlight.

“@connor_m30 float gameeeeee,” Clark wrote on Instagram, replying to the montage of poasts from the sports photographer before McCafferey replied via X.com (formerly Twitter) with a heart emoji.

McCafferey is more than just a loving boyfriend though, working as an assistant coach at the Fever following time with the Hawkeyes where he played college basketball but didn’t make it to the NBA. He has been her No.1 fan since long ago, and might be the luckiest fan ever.

It looks as though they’ve been working on Clark‘s float shots together and with results beginning to appear on the court for them, it’s clear their methods are working just fine.

When does Caitlin Clark play next?

After the game against the Lynx on September 7, Clark also faced off against the Atlanta Dream and impressed once again in a 104-100 overtime win by posting 26 points, 12 assists and five rebounds on September 8.

Clark and Aliyah Boston will look to spur the Fever to victory once again when they take on the Las Vegas Aces on Wednesday, September 11 with tip-off expected at 19:00 ET/16:00 PT.
