Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell have been the driving force for the Indiana Fever, who, following the Olympic break, have become one of the WNBA’s best teams.
Since the league’s return, the Fever have a 6-1 record, the best of any team. Clark has now won back-to-back Player of the Week awards during this timespan, and Mitchell is leading Indiana in scoring, tallying more than 20 points in all seven games.
On Tuesday, forward NaLyssa Smith spoke to reporters during the Fever’s media availability. She discussed her team’s recent success and highlighted Clark and Mitchell’s play during the recent hot streak.
“Oh, it’s great to see it,” Smith said. “It’s great to see everybody on our team finally coming together. Kelsey’s playing her best basketball. She looks comfortable. She’s scoring a lot more efficiently. Caitlin’s being Caitlin. Scoring, passing the ball. She’s doing great.”
Clark and Mitchell have become one of the best backcourt duos in the WNBA. Mitchell’s scoring threat, mixed in with Clark’s shooting and playmaking abilities, has become difficult for people to guard, especially when Clark is hitting her shots.
Smith has played a crucial role for Indiana alongside Clark and Mitchell in the starting lineup. The former Baylor Bears star is averaging 11.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.
The Fever will be back in action on Wednesday, September 4, against the Los Angeles Sparks as they look to increase their winning streak to five games.
