Andrea Bocelli, the globally acclaimed tenor, recently celebrated a significant moment in his son Matteo’s musical journey with the release of a new song. Expressing heartfelt admiration, Andrea underscored the profound connection of love and mentorship they share. This milestone not only showcased Matteo’s talent but also symbolized the passing of a rich musical legacy from father to son. With Matteo’s song blending raw emotion and remarkable artistry, his father’s unwavering support added a poignant and poetic layer to the accomplishment
Matteo Bocelli launched his second single and music video for Close, ahead of his debut solo album.
The 24-year-old’s professional career kicked off in 2018 with his father Andrea Bocelli, as the two performed their hit track Fall On Me live around the world.
But as his son heads off on his own path, Andrea offered a warm show of support on his Instagram account towards him.
Sharing a clip from Close, Andrea wrote: “Come what may, you’ll always be “close” to our hearts. But we hope your artistic journey will take you far! Good luck to our young artist, Matteo, for this next step in your career: we are by your side, and just as your song says, we always feel that you are “close” to us. Andrea, Veronica, Amos & Virginia.”
The 63-year-old also offered his wise advice during Matteo’s live Q&A from home in Italy.
After chatting to other friends and family, Matteo introduced his father: “And then finally, we have the big boss!”
Andrea told Matteo: “You can do better always. You must do everything in order to improve your singing every day. And not to scream [and lose your voice].” The screaming was a little joke since his son has almost lost his voice with all the promotion for Close over the last few days.
Since then, the 24-year-old has shared a clip of himself singing his new track while playing the piano at home. He captioned his latest video: “Just keep me Close and baby let your heart go.”
A fan commented: “Your song and smile lights up the world.” Another added: “The piano and your voice, the heavenly sound of Matteo, drifted away for a while.”
