all for ‘Not Like Us

Kendrick Lamar Accepts Grammys For ‘Not Like Us’ In A Canadian Tuxedo

He took home multiple awards for his hit diss track about a certain rapper from Canada.

Kendrick Lamar made a triumphant return to the Grammys last night. The rapper entered the evening as the most nominated hip-hop artist this year with seven nominations, and just took home the awards for Record of the Year and Song of the Year for his chart-topping hit ‘Not Like Us.’ At the pre-show ceremony, Lamar also won Best Rap Song, Best Music Video, and Best Rap Performance, all for ‘Not Like Us.’

To accept the wins at the evening ceremony, Lamar took the stage in a classic Canadian tuxedo and matching baseball hat—potentially a nod to a certain Canadian rapper who’s the subject of the awarded diss track.

During his acceptance speech for Record of the Year, Lamar paid tribute to the city of Los Angeles, which has recently been decimated by wildfires, calling it the ‘neck of the woods that held me down…since I was in the studio scrapping to write the best raps.’ He continued, ‘I can’t give enough thanks, you know, to these places that I rolled around since high school, you know. Most importantly, the people and the families out in the Palisades and Altadena.’

In previous years, Lamar has taken home 17 Grammy awards, including wins for Best Rap Album (To Pimp a Butterfly, DAMN., Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers), Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance.

Lamar’s latest nominations come following a successful year for the artist. In November, he dropped his surprise album GNX, and multiple tracks debuted in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, including his third Billboard No. 1 of the year, ‘Squabble Up.’ This is shaping up to be another major year in Lamar’s career: He’ll be performing at next week’s Super Bowl LIX halftime show and will be starting the Grand National Tour with SZA in April.

Speaking on SiriusXM’s station Shade45 in DecemberEminem candidly shared his opinion on Lamar’s 2025 Grammy nominations. ‘It’s very stiff competition,’ said Eminem, who is nominated in three of the same categories as Lamar this year. ‘Kendrick is gonna sweep that shit. He’s going to, and he should.’ Sure enough, while returning to the stage to accept the Song of the Year Grammy, Lamar’s collaborator and producer, Mustard, joked that someone should bring out a broom—because Kendrick is sweeping.
