Hollywood star Brad Pitt was paid $20 million in a 2022 movie despite the movie getting pathetically bombed at the box-office.

Bomb or blockbuster, Brad Pitt has the potential to cash in jaw-dropping numbers from any movie he stars in. He was listed in Forbes’s list of Highest-Paid Entertainers in 2023 and fans are not even shocked. The Fight Club actor’s lavish lifestyle is a result of the eye-watering numbers he charges from movies. Similarly, a film that drastically flopped, to be marked as one of Hollywood’s biggest box office disappointments, per Collider, still made a ransom for Brad Pitt’s career.

2022’s Babylon starred Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie, Tobey Maguire among a star-studded cast. With an estimated budget of $110 million, the film barely even crossed the $65 million mark worldwide. Evidently, a massive box-office failure, the production had Brad Pitt signed up for over one-fourth of what the movie made.

Brad Pitt profited from a box-office failure

While the fate of the movie is decided after its release, the 60-year-old actor doesn’t risk his shares. Brad Pitt, who also co-owned a French winery, Chateau Miraval, with ex-wife Angeline Jolie, was paid $20 million for Babylon. Directed by Damien Chazelle, Babylon was expected to match standards like his former critically acclaimed project La La Land.

Unfortunately, the film’s plot, which revolves around the evolution of Hollywood from silent films to modern cinema, didn’t gauge the audience it was intended for. Nevertheless, the film has earned a decent IMDb rating of 7.1, and three Academy Award nominations, majorly for its design and music. The highest salary was awarded to Pitt, followed by Margot Robbie with a $5 million paycheck. Making significantly less than her co-star, yet one of the highest.

However, Babylon wasn’t the only money-making endeavor for Pitt in 2022. The $400 million net worth star also made equal shares of $30 million from Bullet Train and The Lost City, per Cosmopolitan.

Brad Pitt is a money-making machine

Not only his movies, but the Hollywood A-Lister also has a ravaging business model in place. Pitt and Jennifer Anniston founded the Plan B Production company in 2001. After their divorce four years later, the two-time Academy Award winner took over the company and an additional $30 million, per The Hollywood Reporter.

The company had been churning out truckloads of capital, with movies like Moonlight, The Last Black Man in San Francisco, Selma, Twelve Years a Slave, and more under its name. Starting as Hollywood’s heartthrob, Pitt has also worked on his image to be a star who shines green.

Plans of retiring seem far-fetched yet, as Pitt is working on two movies simultaneously. Apple’s untitled F1 movie and 2024’s Wolves are in the works, again produced by Plan B. Even though a majority stake of the company was sold to French media company, Mediawan, Pitt firmly holds a minor percentage. The road seems infinite for Brad Pitt’s financial gains.
