The entrepreneur was known for hosting lavish parties and celebrations at his infamous Playboy mansion, in which he lived until his death in 2017.

When Hefner passed away, the world was shocked to know that his net worth was extremely low compared to the lifestyle he led and the value of the Playboy company. It was also revealed that Hefner had sold the infamous Playboy mansion to Daren Metropolous for $100 million and that the Playboy founder did not even own the mansion in the first place.

Hugh Hefner’s infamous Playboy mansion has been the subject of many controversies and celebrity-attended parties. Hefner’s LA mansion was reportedly the hub for many lavish parties and celebrations, with many actors and other celebrities in attendance. The mansion was the residence of Hugh Hefner until his death.

However, despite buying the mansion in 1971 through Playboy, Hugh Hefner did not reportedly own the mansion at the time of his death. After he retired from the company’s operations, he reportedly only took a salary of $1 million and permission to reside in the mansion until his death from the Playboy company (via Fortune).

The Playboy mansion was reportedly sold off in 2016 to Daren Metropolous, the co-owner of Twinkies and a stakeholder in more companies. According to CNN, Metropolous was a neighbor and he bought the mansion for a whopping $100 million. He did not move in until Hefner died in 2017. The mansion was reportedly later used for corporate activities.

After the death of the infamous founder, many secrets about his time in the mansion and his net worth came out. According to Fortune, Hefner’s net worth was as low as $15 million as he did not own any property or assets at the end of his life.

After his death, many exposes regarding Hugh Hefner’s tenure at the Playboy mansion came to the forefront. The mansion was known for its lavish parties with celebrities and also had Playboy Bunnies in attendance. Many of Hefner’s girlfriends lived with him in the Playboy mansion, with many revealing various experiences they had during their time there.

The usual activities in the Playboy mansion were exposed by Jennifer Saginor, a person who reportedly resided in the mansion from the age of six as her father was the doctor in residence. In her memoir, Playground: A Childhood Lost Inside The Playboy Mansion, she alleged that she walked in on many s*xual encounters with celebrities at a very young age.

One of Hefner’s girlfriends and Playmate, Sondra Theodore alleged that she was forced by Hefner to participate in many uncomfortable and disturbing acts during her time in the mansion. She spoke about her time in the mansion as his girlfriend in the show Secrets of Playboy and alleged that she was part of org*es, dr*g use, and s*xual assault (via People).
