Emily Blunt and Tom Hanks joined forces in the 2007 film Charlie Wilson’s War, a gripping biographical comedy-drama centered around the fall of the Soviet Union. Based on the true story of U.S. Congressman Charlie Wilson and a CIA operative, the movie received widespread acclaim from both audiences and critics alike. However, amidst the movie’s success, there was a particular scene that made Blunt slightly uncomfortable during filming.

While talking about it, she told GQ that she was initially hesitant to do the scene, but eventually agreed after Hanks assured her that it would be tastefully done. However, she said that she still felt embarrassed when she saw the finished product.
“It was surreal! And embarrassing, always, because it’s just you with your t*ts hanging out, and you have to hope that the lighting’s nice. There are some people who feel OK and confident with prancing around in their underwear. I wouldn’t say I was one of those people. So you just become someone who’s good at it. But he is such a gentleman”

Furthermore, Blunt said that she and Hanks were both professional about the scene, but admitted that she felt a little bit awkward afterward.

Not just Blunt, but the scene was a bit awkward for Hanks too. And the fact that the two actors shared a 27-year age gap might be one of the primary reasons for the awkwardness. While discussing it on the British talk show Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, Blunt said,
“Maybe it was weird for him too, because… I could be his daughter. And I’m friends with his son – I did”
