Kristen Stewart defends her controversial Rolling Stone photo that surged conservative panic.
Ever since Kristen Stewart came out as gay in an SNL monologue, homophobes have been unnecessarily agitated by her. Thereafter, Stewart has often been used as evidence to claim that youngsters are being “groomed” into adopting s*xual and gender identities that do not coincide with heteronormative standards. Even recently, her new photoshoot with Rolling Stone, which played with masculine-coded fashion, was targeted and criticized.
However, much like Kristen Stewart previously dealt with conservative panic, the actress yet again set her foot into defending her cover picture. Appearing on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to discuss her new movie Love Lies Bleeding, Stewart purposefully stood by her photoshoot while sending out a simple “f*ck you” message to her haters.
Kristen Stewart’s Controversial Rolling Stone Cover Photo
While Kristen Stewart rose to prominence in Hollywood, with her role in Twilight movies alongside Robert Pattinson, she surprisingly occupied a curious space in the conservative imagination, after coming out as gay. Revealing her s*xual preference and gender identity during an SNL monologue, while the actress turned into an icon for the LGBTQ community, she simultaneously agitated right-wingers.
Ever since then, the actress has often been used as evidence of how young people are being “groomed” into believing in things that do not coincide with heteronormative standards. Further, Kristen Stewart has also been subjected to humiliation and criticism on social media by conservatives. But thankfully, nothing could bring down the actress.
Kristen Stewart in Personal Shopper
Therefore recently, the Charlie’s Angels actress was asked to appear for a photoshoot with Rolling Stone for a March cover story. Recalling the mean and conservative comments that inspired her to become a queer icon and delve into challenging and subversive roles, Kristen Stewart thus appeared in the photoshoot, which later turned controversial.
Sending shockwaves through the right-wing community as she played with masculine-coded fashion and props like jockstraps and gym weights, Kristen Stewart’s Rolling Stone cover surprisingly turned into an abomination.
Kristen Stewart Defends Her Masculine-Coded Photoshoot
Although Kristen Stewart is being called out for her controversial Rolling Stone photoshoot, the actress couldn’t give a lesser damn about people’s opinions. Recently appearing on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to promote her new movie Love Lies Bleeding, the actress finally addressed the hate and defended her “ultra-gay” photoshoot which was apparently asked by CBS not to show.
“Now before I show this cover, I just want you to know and the audience to know that I think it’s a perfectly lovely cover. We were asked by CBS not to show it. They thought that would be not a good idea for us to show this, and I don’t know why. Because there’s the cover, right here.” Stephen Colbert stated.
Featured wearing a jockstrap and leather vest with her hand inside the jockstrap, Kristen Stewart looked stunning in her new photoshoot which even left her audience starstruck. Even Stephen Colbert quipped that Stewart looked “better in a jockstrap than I ever did,”. But unfortunately, as homophobes took offense to the image, the actress was seen defending it.
Stewart and Katy M. O’Brian in Love Lies Bleeding
“Rolling Stone turns Kristen Stewart into a MAN to push gender ideology on its readers.” Colbert read a tweet.
“Well, it’s a little ironic because I feel like I’ve seen a lot of male pubic hair on the cover of things. I’ve seen a lot of hands in pants and unbuttoned… I think there’s a certain overt acknowledgment of a female sexuality that has its own volition in a way that is annoying for people who are sexist and homophobic… female sexuality isn’t supposed to actually want anything but to be had. And that feels like it’s protruding in a way that might be annoying. But f*ck you… But I never will!” Stewart claimed.
Stewart in a still from Love Lies Bleeding
With Stephen Colbert by her side, Kristen Stewart openly defended her controversial photoshoot and concluded her statement with a laugh. Appreciated by the audience seated, the actress further proceeded to talk about her movie – Love Lies Bleeding, which is currently playing in theaters.
