Jimmy Garoppolo is taking his talents back to the west coast.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and Peter Schrager, the Los Angeles Rams have signed former New England Patriots, Los Angeles Rams and Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a one-year contract.

Carson Wentz spent the 2023 season as the Rams’ backup quarterback to Matthew Stafford, but the No. 2 pick of the 2016 NFL Draft wasn’t re-signed. While Wentz remains a free agent, “Jimmy G” has been brought in to serve as Sean McVay’s backup in La La Land.

Garoppolo was released by the Raiders earlier this week, just one year after signing a lucrative three-year deal worth $72.75 million. Garoppolo lost his starting job midseason to rookie Aidan O’Connell, who performed considerably better than the veteran.

The Raiders signed ex-Indianapolis Colts starter Gardner Minshew II to compete with O’Connell for the starting quarterback role.

Garoppolo spent his first three and a half seasons with the Patriots, winning two Super Bowl rings as Tom Brady’s backup in 2014 and 2016. Ahead of the 2017 trade deadline, he was dealt to the 49ers for a second-round pick.

Jimmy G started 55 games over his six-year run with the 49ers, which was largely marred by injuries. He went 38-17-0 as the starter and completed 67.6 percent of pass attempts for 13,599 passing yards and 82 touchdowns against 42 interceptions.
