With all eyes on Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, starring Cillian Murphy and Emily Blunt, it remains to be seen whether the flick can become one of the most decorated in history. The production is up for 13 gongs – just one short of the most nominations for a film ever – and it has been highly tipped to win at least eight of them.
Elsewhere, despite the fury surrounding Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie’s snub with Barbie, Ryan Gosling is tipped to take home the award for best supporting actor. He is also set to entertain the crowd with a rendition of his character’s hit tune, I’m Just Ken.
Jimmy Kimmel takes on this year’s hosting duties, with the likes of Brendan Fraser returning to present an award.
Ryan Gosling takes swipe at Oppenheimer
Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt paid tribute to all the stunt performers in cinema history. Ryan thought it was the perfect time to throw a jab at Oppenheimer and said: “I figured out why they call it ‘Barbenheimer’ and they didn’t call it ‘Oppenbarbie.’ I think you guys are the tail end of that cause you were riding Barbie’s coattails all summer.”
Fans on X, formerly known as Twitter, think that Ryan “ate” that speech. Both Barbie and Oppenheimer were released on July 21, 2023 and made box office history.
Bad Bunny presents in Spanish with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

The Academy Award-nominated actor Bradley Cooper took a date to the Oscars this year, but it wasn’t his girlfriend Gigi Hadid.
The Maestro actor took the red carpet with his mum, Gloria Campano. Gigi and Bradley have yet made it official, but rumours claimed that this was going to be the night they would. Bradley and Gigi have been spotted together out and about in New York City and on various dates together. The couple started dating in October and are “definitely getting more serious” and are “totally into each other.”
Jimmy Kimmel made sure to make jabs at the celebrities in the room at the 96th Academy Awards.
The host marked his fourth time as host for the prestigious event by mocking some of the biggest names in the audience. Among those was Robert De Niro and his large age gap with his girlfriend. Jimmy joked that the first time De Niro played in a role alongside Jodie Foster in 1976’s film, Taxi Driver. He then said that she is “now 20 years too old to be his girlfriend,” taking aim at the 35 year difference between Robert and Tiffany Chen.
Fans were not impressed with Jimmy’s monologe. One person wrote: “Society has moved past for the need for jimmy kimmel hosting award shows #Oscars.” Another wrote: “@jimmykimmel started with a terrible opening. It’s going to be a long night! #Oscars.”
Taylor Swift, who is a member of The Academy, is not confirmed to be attending the Oscars but does have a seat on waiting for her.
An executive producer of the show Molly McNearney extended Taylor an invite to the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. She told IndieWire: “Listen, we all love Taylor. She’s the best cheerleader you could ever possibly have in any audience, whether it’s the NFL or an award show, so if she wants to get on a plane and come to the Oscars, then we’ll hold a seat for her, 100 per cent.”
The pop star just performed six sold out shows in Singapore and is putting the Eras Tour on pause until May.
