But even before the Slap-gate incident at 2022’s Academy Awards and the Red Table Talk between the couple, their marriage did suffer from another crisis during Smith’s time at the movie Focus.

During the production of Focus, it was rumored that the Men in Black star was romantically inclined toward her co-star, Margot Robbie. Even though there hasn’t been any real weight behind this claim and the legitimacy of this rumor still remains under wraps, it seems that this situation allegedly led to some cracks in the actor’s marriage.

Before hitting rock bottom and finding himself surrounded by controversies after slapping Chris Rock at the 94th Academy Awards, Will Smith was part of another major controversy involving Margot  Robbie. Smith and Margot Robbie first crossed paths during their time in the movie, Focus, and at the time, there were multiple speculations about their bond.

Smith, who at the time was engaged with Jada Pinkett Smith, was accused of being unfaithful to his wife following the actor’s bond with Robbie during their tenure at the movie. The rumors garnered heat after the two were later allegedly involved in an intimate photoshoot session. And Robbie’s comment about Smith stating, “He’s got this really lovely breath spray,” led many to believe that Margot Robbie was hitting on Will Smith.

Although Margot Robbie later went on ridicule these accusations and brushed them off, it seems that this might have led to igniting the troubles between the Men in Black star’s marriage.

Over the last couple of years, their marriage has suffered from various obstacles, including the entanglement issues, which Pinkett went on to confess in the Red Table Talk. But it appears that the situation between Smith and Robbie might have kickstarted the troubles in their marriage, as Jada  Pinkett Smith was reportedly insecure about Robbie hitting on Will Smith at the time.

But considering that the actress joked about Smith getting into shape before working with Margot Robbie and jokingly asked her husband to not get intimate with the actress onscreen. It does appear that Pinkett might not have been troubled by Smith and Robbie’s bond at the beginning.

Even though the Birds of Prey actress later went on to deny the claims of being romantically involved with the Men in Black actor. The King Richard actor’s marriage has suffered several problems since then.
