“That feels empowering”: Margot Robbie Mentions Her One Condition to Get Naked On-Screen After Breaking Out Into Hollywood With Leonardo DiCaprio in Risky Scene

Margot Robbie is an actor who has never shied away from nudity on the silver screen. Having starred in her breakout role in The Wolf of Wall Street at just 23, the actress oftentimes has been a part of the conversation that discusses the delicate balance between what’s deemed appropriate and what isn’t in the world of cinema. However, Robbie’s willingness to bare it all on screen doesn’t necessarily translate to her endorsing gratuitous nudity.

In an exclusive interview with Yahoo! Movies, Robbie delved into what goes into her mind, shedding light on her thoughts, considerations, and conditions when it comes to participating in nude scenes.

Margot Robbie on When She Feels Nudity Should Be Appropriate

Margot Robbie has lived a plethora of lives through several intriguing roles on the silver screen. Be it a stripper in Terminal, the quintessential IT girl in The Wolf of Wall Street, and even Harley Quinn, to name a few, each more iconic than the last one. And almost all of the characters she portrays require her in some way or the other to use her femininity and sensuality. Consequently, she is now a pro in determining what scenes actually translate as appropriate on screen and what does not. Speaking with Yahoo! Movies she stated,
“If I see it in a character that is using it as a weapon, or a tool or doing it intentionally, like in Wolf of Wall Street, she’s wearing a short dress for a reason, it’s her currency and knows she’s going to get her own, that feels empowering. When it’s used in a way where there isn’t that level of self-awareness,–then it does feel like you’re being taken advantage of and I don’t really vibe with it.”

It is very important for her that the roles she chooses to portray exhibit a level of self-awareness regarding how they are presented to the world. Speaking of her character in The Wolf of Wall Street, Robbie emphasized that despite the initial perception of her character as someone who may seem like a superficial bimbo, the character effectively harnesses this perception as a strategic advantage to progress in a male-dominated world, and that is what she digs.

Margot Robbie Follows This Rule While She Is Producing As Well!

Margot Robbie isn’t just an accomplished actress, she’s also a thriving producer. And in this profession too, she tries to stick to the same principle. She further revealed in the same interview that,
“Even if I wasn’t producing I would have started being vocal with those opinions now anyway–I’m starting to get to the age of having worked on films pretty consistently for the last ten years, that I do have an opinion and I am ready to be vocal about it but at the beginning, you’re so grateful that you have a job that you just don’t want to rock the boat sometimes.”

Having been in the industry for quite some time, Robbie acknowledges the scarcity of genuinely well-crafted female characters and scripts. Thus when finally given the opportunity to take a seat as a producer in the showbiz, she believes it’s her responsibility to contribute her part to this vast and influential industry.
