The rumors were sparked thanks to a photo that Smith and Robbie took, one where some harmless fun between costars was blown out of proportion as rumors of the two having an affair began hitting the airwaves.

Will Smith was married at the time, and Margot Robbie quickly took to social media to address the rumors, clearing up the air about whether the actors were romantically involved (despite Will being married to Jada Pinkett Smith) or not. However, the rumors persisted even after they were publically addressed by Robbie, as they often do in Hollywood.

Will Smith and Margot Robbie have collaborated on multiple films together, First, the duo starred together in Focus, and then again in 2016’s Suicide Squad. There were several claims that the two skipped out on the wrap party for Focus to hang out together in Smith’s trailer. This was further blown out of proportion when a photobooth image of the two was made public, one where Smith appeared shirtless and Robbie appeared revealing her lingerie.

The shoot was completely platonic, with Robbie even taking to Twitter (as per ABC News) to slam the rumors at the time. However, the rumors persisted and even resurfaced around the time Suicide Squad hit theatres in 2016, where the actors starred together once again. This time, neither Robbie nor Smith chose to dignify these rumors with a response. However, it will shortly after this it would come to light that Jada Pinkett Smith had allegedly cheated on Will Smith.

Robbie, on the other hand, would get hitched to her husband in 2016, opening a production studio with him later down the line. Insiders have maintained despite multiple rumors that Will Smith and Margot Robbie were never romantically involved, and remain cordial with each other to this day.
