The F1 fandom is all geared up to enter the big screen as Lewis Hamilton has given the green light for a new Formula One film which will feature Brad Pitt as the frontrunner. Hamilton needs no introduction in the racing world as the seven-time world champion is credited with one of the most explosive debut seasons in history. Given that he is associated with the project, the film is already in the top league.

The speed-hungry flick is set to make our hearts race which will make some of the biggest stars of the industry in its zone but one name would have to work out a bit to get associated with the project – Will Smith!

Will Smith is one of the most recognized actors in Hollywood who appeared as a leading man in several films including the Men in Black franchise. He has been given some iconic roles in the film industry so to think that he could possibly get a green flag in the upcoming racing film will be a big deal.

However, so far, he hasn’t been approached for the project starring Brad Pitt who joked that he would have to get in shape if the call comes to him.

“I haven’t been asked yet but I would love to,” the Oscar-winning actor shared to Sky Sports via TalkSport before the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix.

He continued,
“I might have to work on this gut though, it doesn’t fit in the car too well.”
Well, this is not the first time, Smith has gone to crack a light-hearted joke on himself. But the project is getting ready with great speed. The renowned racer also addressed his involvement in the film.

With a star like Hamilton associated with the new F1 film, fans would have to hold their hearts as he won’t be appearing in front of the camera.

Stating about his presence in the film, he shared, “I don’t plan to be in it, no.”

He continued to share,
“It’s going to take us drivers to be involved in [filming the on-track action]. But we’re not actors … We don’t want this movie to be c***, which is probably why I’m not going to be part of it also.”
Though he has already clarified his plans to be behind the camera as a producer, he has assured fans to look forward to the project.
“I know we’re going to make the best racing movie that’s ever existed, both visually, and we’re going to work on making sure we pull on the heartstrings of all those fans.”
The production is scheduled to begin at the British Grand Prix in the second half of 2023. It is being made by Hamilton’s new production company, Dawn Apollo Films. Meanwhile, Top Gun: Maverick’s director, Joseph Kosinski is the one helming the project.
