An Australian woman was gang-raped in Paris yesterday. Authorities have not released the victim’s name, but she is believed to be a member of the Australian Olympic delegation competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

According to witnesses, they were dining at a local restaurant on the Boulevard de Clichy when they encountered a woman who “lost control” and asked for help. “Her clothes were disheveled, her hair was disheveled and she was traumatized,” one person told Le Parisien.

Police and paramedics were immediately called to the scene. The woman, 25, later contacted the Australian team.

The Paris prosecutor’s office has admitted that it was likely a “gang rape”. It took place between Saturday and Sunday and officials are investigating.

Strath Gordon, the Australian team’s communications director, said Australian athletes in Paris were aware of the attack. The team was working to protect their athletes.

“They have been advised not to wear team uniform in public,” Gordon said. “This is a surprise because we have not received any threats since we landed in Paris. At the moment, we are just focused on preparing for the Games.”

The news has sent shockwaves through the Paris 2024 Olympics. The Washington Post wrote: “Tony Estanguet, president of the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee, has promised that the French capital will be “the safest place in the world” when the Olympics open. However, there have been security concerns in France, where officials are struggling to maintain a balance.”
