Carolina’s Musical Journey: From Guitar to Piano in Just Two Months
Hey guys! So, here’s the story: I was cooking in the kitchen when Carolina came up to me and said, “Mom, you know, it’s easier to play guitar than piano, and I like it better because when I’m playing guitar, I can sing too!” She’s been playing guitar for a couple of months now, but she felt a bit limited when it came to singing and playing the piano at the same time.
I told her, “Okay, how about I show you a song you can instantly learn on the piano? It’ll be easy for you, and you’ll be able to sing while playing!” Carolina was excited to give it a try, and that’s when we decided to learn a song together.
We started with “Dance Monkey” – a fun and catchy tune that anyone can play and sing to with a little practice. The beauty of the song is that it’s simple to learn and sounds great even when you’re just starting out. Carolina was a natural at it, and within moments, she was playing and singing along, surprising both of us with how quickly she caught on.
And here’s a little clip of us playing:
“They say, oh my dear…” 🎶
It was such a proud moment! Carolina was grinning ear-to-ear, singing and playing piano at the same time. It felt like a mini concert in our living room, and I couldn’t have been prouder of how quickly she picked it up.
After finishing the song, Carolina said, “Thank you, Mom, for teaching me ‘Dance Monkey’ on the piano! I love it. I love the piano too now!” And of course, we celebrated with a high five!
But the best part? Little Leo, even though he’s just four, helped out by providing moral support and cheering us on! He’s got the sweetest spirit, and we all laughed and had so much fun together.
It’s amazing how music can bring us closer and create such joyful memories. Carolina’s excitement for learning piano now is just so inspiring, and I’m so happy I could help her discover the magic of playing and singing together.
So, for anyone out there thinking about learning to play piano or singing while playing, “Dance Monkey” is a great song to start with. It’s catchy, fun, and pretty easy to pick up!
Thanks for reading along, and don’t forget to encourage your kids (or anyone) to explore music—it’s such a beautiful gift. 😊
