Fans Think That Kenny Chesney Is Planning A Residency In Las Vegas: Here’s Why

Recent hints suggest that Kenny Chesney might be planning something major in Sin City.

Is Kenny Chesney Planning A Residency In Las Vegas?

Kenny Chesney had a packed year in 2024. In March, he dropped his 20th studio album, Born, and wrapped up his Sun Goes Down national tour by late summer. But it seems Chesney isn’t slowing down as the new year kicks off.

Over the past few days, he’s been dropping hints about something big, and fans think that they have figured out the secret announcement.

The first clue Chesney shared was a photo on his Instagram page. In the picture, he’s seen rehearsing with his band. This instantly sparked speculation about what he might be preparing for.

Chesney captioned the post, “New year and new experiences. Started rehearsals today for what’s next. Can’t wait to share.”

What really has fans convinced they’ve cracked the mystery didn’t come from a hint directly dropped by the “Summertime” singer, though. Instead, it came from an image that was displayed on the Las Vegas Sphere.

Images On The Las Vegas Sphere Feature Chesney’s Iconic Old Blue Chair

On Wednesday, January 15, the Las Vegas Sphere’s official social media pages shared a video featuring ocean waves crashing onto a beach. At first glance, the clip might not seem linked to Chesney. But, the scene takes a turn when a familiar blue chair appears on the sand. It soon becomes accompanied by an acoustic guitar and a cowboy hat.

If you didn’t already know, the image of a blue chair has become one of the country star’s most recognizable symbols. In 2004, he released the song “Old Blue Chair.” His album Be As You Are: Songs From An Old Blue Chair soon followed in 2005. Over the years, the blue chair has become such a staple of Chesney’s brand, that he even named his own alcohol company after it, Blue Chair Bay Rum.

Of course, nothing has been officially confirmed about whether Kenny Chesney will actually be taking on a residency in Las Vegas. However, according to Billboard, he is set to make an important announcement on Thursday, January 16, during an appearance on TODAY and later on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
