Harry Styles lashes out as he recalls being humiliated on stage by SNL co-host Chloe Fineman: “She didn’t even bother to apologize to me…”

Chloe Fineman has built a strong reputation as one of Saturday Night Live’s most talented impressionists.

From nailing the mannerisms of celebrities like Drew Barrymore to perfectly mimicking Britney Spears, her ability to embody famous personalities has earned her widespread recognition.

However, despite her impressive track record, there is one star she just can’t seem to get right—Harry Styles.

Fineman’s Failed Attempt at a Harry Styles Impression

During the SNL50: The Anniversary Special red carpet event, Fineman opened up about her difficulty capturing the former One Direction member’s signature voice and persona.

While speaking with correspondent Amelia Dimoldenberg, the comedian admitted that her attempt at imitating Styles wasn’t well-received—especially not by Styles himself.

“[My impersonation of] Harry Styles is really bad,” Fineman confessed. She recalled a particular moment when she performed the impression in front of Styles, only to be met with a less-than-enthusiastic response. “I did it, and he was like at the table and was so devastated by how bad it was,” she explained.

Though Fineman has mastered the art of impersonation with many celebrities, Styles remains an elusive challenge. Unlike her spot-on performances of other famous figures, something about his voice or mannerisms seems to evade her comedic grasp.

Did Chloe Fineman and Harry Styles Ever Work Together on SNL?

Although Styles made his Saturday Night Live hosting debut in 2019, reports indicate that he and Fineman never shared a sketch together. This means that while Styles has left his mark on the long-running sketch show, the two never had the chance to collaborate in a way that would allow Fineman to study his mannerisms firsthand.

Despite this, Fineman still made an attempt at portraying the Grammy-winning singer—but if Styles’ reaction was anything to go by, it wasn’t her best work.

JoJo Siwa Praises Fineman’s Impressions—With One Small Critique

While her take on Styles may have missed the mark, many of Fineman’s impersonations have earned praise from fans and even the celebrities themselves. One notable example is JoJo Siwa, who recently reacted to Fineman’s November 16 impression of her auditioning for Wicked.

Siwa, known for her high-energy performances and over-the-top personality, gave Fineman credit for getting her mannerisms just right. However, she did note one area that could have been improved—the dancing. According to Siwa, everything about Fineman’s impression was “perfect,” except that the movements weren’t “full out” enough to match her signature style.

Chloe Fineman’s Rise on SNL

Since joining Saturday Night Live in 2019 as a featured player, Fineman has become one of the standout members of the cast. By 2021, she had been promoted to a full-time cast member, solidifying her place on the legendary late-night show.

In a 2024 interview, she reflected on her experience working on SNL and what makes the environment unique. She specifically highlighted the dynamic among the women on set, noting that unlike some other workspaces in the entertainment industry, it didn’t involve “a lot of screaming.” Instead, she emphasized the strong level of trust and understanding between colleagues, which she believes contributes to the success of their performances.

“There’s a level of trust that happens as an actor and in movie-making,” Fineman explained. “And I think when you have a woman who really, like, intrinsically understands you, magic happens.”

Advice for SNL’s Newcomers

With Saturday Night Live currently in its 50th season, Fineman also shared her thoughts on what it takes to survive on the iconic show. She acknowledged that new cast members are often “thrown into the fire” early on, but she encouraged them to embrace the experience and enjoy the ride.

Despite the challenges that come with live sketch comedy, Fineman’s journey on SNL has proven that dedication and talent can lead to success. And while her Harry Styles impression might not be her strongest, she continues to entertain audiences with her ever-expanding repertoire of celebrity impersonations.
