Kelly Ripa faces heavy criticism after being accused of PROFITING from charity initiatives. What’s the truth?

Talk show hosts have a fine line to walk when expressing opinions, as their words can easily win or alienate an audience.

Kelly Ripa recently experienced this firsthand when she voiced an unpopular take during a segment on Live with Kelly and Mark.

The discussion centered around a major announcement from the Girl Scouts of the USA,

but Ripa’s reaction left some viewers—and even her husband and co-host, Mark Consuelos—surprised.

Kelly Ripa Reacts to Girl Scouts’ Cookie Announcement

Since 2023, Kelly Ripa has co-hosted the popular morning show alongside her husband, Mark Consuelos.

Before that, she shared hosting duties with television icons like Regis Philbin, Michael Strahan, and Ryan Seacrest. Over the years, she has become known for her candid and sometimes controversial opinions.

During a recent episode, the couple discussed the latest news from the Girl Scouts, an organization famous for its annual cookie sales. As reported by People, the Girl Scouts announced that they will discontinue two cookie flavors after the 2025 season—Girl Scout S’mores and Toast-Yay!

Breaking the news to viewers, Ripa said, “I guess Girl Scouts are retiring two fan-favorite cookie flavors.”

The announcement immediately sparked concern from Consuelos, who feared that one of his personal favorites might be on the chopping block.

“No, no! Do not—if it’s the Samoa, I’m going to walk off set right now,” he declared dramatically.

Ripa quickly reassured him that his beloved Samoa cookies were safe, but she didn’t hold back when it came to sharing her thoughts on the two flavors being discontinued.

“I’m going to say, these are two flavors—I know they’re calling them fan-favorites, but I’ve never heard of these cookies,” Ripa admitted. “So, I suspect these fan-favorites that I’ve never heard of maybe are being retired for the very same reason.”

She went on to acknowledge that there could be a simple explanation for her lack of familiarity with the cookies.

“And you tell me if you know these flavors. I’m like, ‘Did they just invent them? Where have I been?’ But again… at a certain point, my kids are grown, so my kids’ friends who I used to buy Girl Scout cookies from are also grown,” she explained.

Adding a humorous twist, she confessed that her Girl Scout cookie purchases now depend entirely on her colleagues.

“Now I am reliant on whoever has young kids here. They are the ones who bring in the Girl Scout cookies, and they are my suppliers.”

Ripa Realizes One Cookie Had a Loyal Fan Base

While Ripa had assumed that the discontinued cookies weren’t well-known, the live audience quickly proved her wrong. Many people in the crowd were familiar with the S’mores cookie, though Toast-Yay seemed to cause more confusion. Even Consuelos wasn’t entirely sure what it was, prompting Ripa to compare it to French Toast.

The conversation then shifted to how Girl Scout cookies can now be purchased online, making it easier for fans to stock up on their favorites. This led Ripa to list off some of the cookies she planned to buy.

“Yeah, I’ll get you some Samoas. I’ll get some Peanut Butter Tagalongs, and I’ll get, um…” she trailed off, searching for another flavor.

Trying to help, Consuelos jumped in with “Thin Mints.”

That’s when Ripa made a confession that immediately turned the audience against her.

“I don’t like Thin Mints. I don’t like them, there I said it!” she declared.

Audience Reacts to Ripa’s Thin Mints Take

The crowd instantly reacted, booing Ripa over her admission. Seizing the moment, Consuelos playfully egged them on, shouting, “Boo her!”

Ripa, unfazed by the audience’s disapproval, turned the joke back on them.

“You know what, you’re a bunch of potheads down there!” she teased.

Pointing to a section of the crowd, she continued, “This whole section! Wave to your families, potheads! The potheads like the Thin Mints. No surprise there. They dip them in peanut butter at home!”

Despite the initial backlash, the audience took her remarks in stride, laughing along with the playful exchange. Ripa then added one final quip, joking, “How did Girl Scout Cookies become so violent?”

A Controversial Take on a Beloved Treat

While Ripa’s dislike for Thin Mints may have shocked some viewers, the segment was ultimately filled with lighthearted banter and fun. However, given the passionate fan base of Girl Scout cookies, her remarks may have ruffled a few feathers.

Did you catch this episode of Live with Kelly and Mark? What do you think about the Girl Scouts’ decision to discontinue two cookie flavors? And do you agree with Ripa’s take on Thin Mints, or do you think she deserves the boos?
