Michael Jordan made a habit of rolling up to Chicago Bulls games throughout his illustrious NBA car in style, boasting a plethora of luxurious vehicles. That particular passion has persisted beyond his retirement, and the six-time NBA champion recently added a stunning car to his jaw-dropping collection.
At Monterey Car Week in August, Italian car design firm Pininfarina unveiled the world’s only Battista Targamerica model.
It was revealed that a “renowned car collector and existing Battista owner” had purchased the ultra-rare sports car worth £1.8million.
And Jordan, who reportedly has a net worth of just over £2.5bn, has now emerged as that mystery buyer, having sent a request to the firm.
On October 1, Pininfarina shared an image of the Hall of Famer posing with his gorgeous new purchase on social media.
A post read: “Today, we celebrate a truly special moment – the delivery of a bespoke, coach-built Battista, crafted in Italy with passion for a dear friend.
“This one-off masterpiece embodies the pinnacle of design and engineering excellence, the result of a remarkable journey shared together. We are grateful to have brought this unique vision to life.
According to Auto Evolution, the Battista Targamerica is an open-roof electric hypercar, flaunting a silver-and-blue exterior with a tan interior.
Michael Jordan has a passion for cars.
It is said to have been delivered to Jordan at the start of October and will join the also-rare 30 Venom F5 Roadster worth £2.7m that he bought in May last year.
The 61-year-old has made no secret of his love for cigars and was captured indulging in plenty during his summer travels across Europe with his wife, Yvette Prieto.
His new drive, offering a 1,900 horsepower engine, also features an aluminium cigar holder and humidor between the front seats.
Jordan sparked health concerns after a public appearance to watch AS Monaco’s Champions League victory against Barcelona last month.
Worried fans noticed that the sporting great’s eyes appeared to look yellow in a viral photo. However, the Mail reports that Jordan isn’t battling an illness or in poor health.
“Mike is OK. He goes to the doctor. He is just getting older, and the recent pics are in no way or should be a reason for concern,” a source confirmed.
“There is nothing wrong with him. Like everyone, we should get a little more exercise and Mike enjoys the life he has made for himself, but there isn’t any hidden illness that he is dealing with.”
