As the 2024 WNBA season nears its conclusion, the Rookie of the Year race between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese is heating up, but the momentum seems to be shifting decisively in Clark’s favor.

Both rookies have been impressive, with Clark leading the Indiana Fever and Reese shining for the Chicago Sky. Each has a compelling case for the coveted award.

While Clark may be emerging as the frontrunner, Reese’s supporters are far from giving up. Recently, a stunning statistic made waves online, highlighting Reese as the only rookie starter this season with a positive plus/minus, giving her fans renewed hope in the tight race.

While plus/minus isn’t the most accurate statistic ever since there are four other players on the court at all times, it is eye-opening to see the positive impact Reese is having for the Sky.

And conversely, it’s shocking to see that Clark, for all she has managed to do this season, has a negative plus/minus for the Fever.

This alone won’t win Reese Rookie of the Year, but it’s clear that while Clark is achieving quite a bit in her own right, you cannot overlook what the Sky’s young center has been doing when it comes to this conversation.
