The Voice fans are fed up and slam the show for prioritizing sad stories over real talent

The Voice is officially back for the season! With the influx of new singers and other episodes on the horizon, fans are revisiting their issues with the show.

The Voice Has “Too Many Sob Stories”

Following the premiere of The Voice Season 27, fans have fled to Reddit to share what they disliked about the first episode. For those who have been a longtime fan of the series, you won’t be surprised about what people are complaining about.

“Is anyone else tired of their being more time spent on people’s sob stories than on actual singing?” a user wrote on Reddit.

Many fans in the comments admitted that they record the show and fast forward through the commercials because they can’t stand the sob stories.

“I can fast forward through commercials and all the pointless stories and coach shenanigans and get to the singing,” a fan commented. “I can make it through a 2 hour blind audition in like 30 mins or something without all the talking.”

Others, pointed out the fact that the producers push too hard to have these stories for the show. They would rather there not be the chance of a sympathy vote, instead they are watching for talent.

“It’s marketing from the producers. Oh, make them feel empathy and sympathy for those having a rough time,” a fan commented. “Let’s hook them with this sob story, etc. Do they really think we are all that clueless?”

Fans Also Dislike Coach Skits

While discussing how much fans dislike sob stories, other commenters shared their disliking of the coach skits. For those who may not be familiar, there are often skits involving multiple coaches, talking about the competition.

Typically, these skits involve the coaches talking about who has the better team, who’s the better coach, etc. These skits are typically used to break up the auditions and give the show a change of pace.

Also, fans consider these skits inclusive of things like Kelsea Ballerini’s Adam insult button, and John Legend‘s join Team Legend dance. These ploys often make it on to Reddit’s The Voice community each season, so it’s no surprise we’re seeing it now.

The Voice returns to NBC on Monday, February 10. This season, the show will air only on Mondays at 8/7c for the Blind Auditions through the Playoffs. During the live shows, the show will return to it’s Monday and Tuesday format.
