Dwyane Wade has told Angel Reese exactly what she needs to do to improve and catch up to Caitlin Clark in year two.
The NBA legend was a guest on Reese’s podcast, ‘Unapologetically Angel,’ this week and discussed several topics. He also had some advice for Reese, whose rookie season was cut short by injury.
Reese also lost out to Clark in the Rookie of the Year battle, getting just one vote out of 67, with the one vote preventing the Indiana Fever guard from snagging a unanimous victory.
While she missed out on the award, as well as the playoffs, the Chicago Sky forward enjoyed a productive first season in the WNBA. She grabbed the most rebounds in the league and averaged 13.1 per game. She was also the second-highest-scoring rookie behind Caitlin, logging 13.6 points a contest; Clark averaged 19.2 a game.
Angel Reese Got Some Sage Wisdom From Dwyane Wade
Reese wants to close the gap on Clark next season and help her team make the playoffs. As such, she asked Wade whether he believed there were any facets of her game she could improve.
“I saw moments this where you did the next step, it’s just about doing it more,” he advised. “You have it. Now it’s about working on it and being consistent with it.
“Don’t go in the gym and work on something, then don’t trust it.”
“That’s the toughest thing, I think people don’t realize that when you go into the game you’re so used to the things that work for you, that are easy for you,” she replied. “That’s why the toughest thing for me is being able to go into a game and just take the shots that I work on.”
“For you, it’s becoming more confident in your offensive bag – but you’ve shown flashes of it,” the three-time NBA champion added.
“When the game slows down for you, that’s when it gets scary.”
Time will tell whether Reese follows Wade’s advice, but her focus should be on getting back healthy as she looks forward to her second season in the pros.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield and his wife Emily have had to evacuate their home this week because of Hurricane Helene.
The hurricane hit northern Florida pretty hard, causing major flooding and power loss.
Mayfield, his wife Emily, their daughter, and their dog left their residence before the storm hit as a means of caution. Emily furnished her followers with an update on Friday.
“Baker, Koko, Fergus and I evacuated yesterday and are safe,” she said via Instagram. “Our sweet, sweet community got pummeled, but even that doesn’t compare to the people up North who took this storm head on. It’s unfathomable.”
Emily is grateful that Helene did not affect the Mayfield home but revealed she was “praying nonstop” for the people dealing with the impact while also offering tangible assistance.
“I am looking for ways to get out and tangibly help,” she added. “Please send me anything you find, and I will share the good ones.”
