Caitlin Clark joins Simone Biles among the highest paid athletes, despite modest WNBA salary – Where’s Angel Reese?

Caitlin Clark’s rookie campaign for the Indiana Fever in the WNBA continues to reap rewards for the 22-year-old.

The Iowa native took home Rookie of the Year honors thanks to her sparkling play on the court, and her performances and superstar status have helped her bank account grow as well despite earning $76,535 from her WNBA contract.

Caitlin Clark is a bigger star than NBA's best players, famed podcast host says | Fox News

As per Sportico, the highest paid female athlete remains tennis star Coco Gauff. However Clark and basketball fans were no doubt pleased to see she has cracked the Top 10 – the only basketball player to do so.

The list states that Clark earned $11.1 million, which puts her just behind No.9 Simone Biles, who also took home $11.1 million.

It also states that Clark took home $100,000 in bonus payments, the biggest of which came for making the WNBA first team which made her $10,300.

Since the Fever made it to the playoffs each player on the team was paid a bonus of $1,616, while Clark’s participation in the All-Star game netted her another $2,575.

Although Biles appears on the list with the same total as Clark, she was ranked above due to her salary/winnings earning her $135,000.

Clark in the mix for more honors

Clark’s rookie performance has also earned her a shot at winning the BBC Sports Personality’s World Sports Start of the Year award.

The award is set to be presented on BBC One on Tuesday, December 17 with voting currently open. Manchester City’s Erling Haaland took home the honors last year.

As per the BBC’s website, Clark is a contender for the award alongside Swiss para-athletics star Catherine Debrunner, Swedish pole vaulter Armand Duplantis, Dutch runner Sifan Hassan, and French swimmer Leon Marchand.
