Nicole Kidman’s Old Crush on Jimmy Fallon Still Sparks Laughs with Keith Urban
Nicole Kidman once revealed that she had a crush on Jimmy Fallon before marrying Keith Urban—and neither Keith nor Jimmy have let her forget it.
The revelation came during a 2015 appearance on The Tonight Show, when Nicole and Jimmy reminisced about their first meeting. As it turned out, Nicole had asked a mutual friend to set them up, thinking it was a date. Meanwhile, Jimmy, completely unaware, assumed they were just meeting to discuss her upcoming role in Bewitched.
When Nicole admitted she had “liked” him back then, Jimmy was in total shock. “Wait, WHAT?” he exclaimed, before literally falling out of his chair. “Did I date Nicole Kidman?”
That moment turned into an ongoing joke, with Jimmy frequently dropping the line, “I dated Nicole Kidman”, ever since.
Keith Urban Joins in on the Fun
Jimmy recently reflected on the now-viral interview, telling Deadline Hollywood that Nicole’s husband, Keith Urban, has fully embraced the joke.
“What’s been fun is running into Keith Urban at events—he’s such a great sport,” Jimmy said. “I saw him at the Met Gala and went, ‘Hey, I think we might have dated once?’ and he just laughed.”
At one point, Keith even orchestrated a prank on his unsuspecting wife. While they were at a gathering, he encouraged Jimmy to pull a sneaky move.
“Keith goes, ‘Nicole’s talking to someone across the table. Why don’t you go and just hold her hand? She’ll think it’s me, and then I’ll go around the table and wave at her,’” Jimmy recalled.
Nervous about getting slapped, Jimmy hesitated but ultimately played along.
“I sat next to Nicole and grabbed her hand. She held it like she thought it was Keith’s, even rubbed it a little while she kept chatting,” he said. “Then Keith popped up across the table and waved, ‘Hi, Nic.’”
The realization hit Nicole instantly. “She was like, ‘What—Jimmy! What are you doing?!’ And I was just like, ‘It was his idea! It was his idea!’”
A Friendship Built on an Awkward “Date”
The unexpected crush confession not only made for great television but also led to a genuine friendship between Jimmy, Nicole, and Keith. The couple even returned to The Tonight Show to poke fun at the situation together.
During their chat, Jimmy jokingly asked Keith if he’d ever invite him over to his home in Tennessee. Keith’s response?
“I feel quite safe because you have no problem ignoring my wife.”
With a sense of humor like that, it’s clear this trio will be laughing about that almost-date for years to come.
