A Day in Argentina: Horses, Polo, and Art

Good morning, everyone! As I sit down to share a glimpse of my day here in Argentina, I can’t help but feel grateful for the beautiful surroundings and the delightful experiences this country has to offer. Currently, I’m enjoying a leisurely breakfast, a refreshing orange, and a cup of coffee. Despite the time being around 1 p.m., we’ve embraced a relaxed lifestyle, often sleeping in until noon—something that might make us seem like “losers,” but hey, we’re just savoring the moment!

Today is particularly exciting as we plan to ride some horses. I’m looking forward to playing polo again, an activity that always leaves me both exhilarated and sore. In fact, polo is one of the most physically demanding sports I’ve tried; the swinging of the mallet really takes a toll on my back and neck. While I’m not pursuing polo professionally, I’m eager to engage in this thrilling sport for fun, despite knowing it might put me out of action for several weeks.

We’re fortunate to be staying at the lovely home of our friend Gon, who deserves a shout-out for his hospitality. The ambiance here is wonderful, and I appreciate the warmth and comfort of this beautiful setting. As the day unfolds, I look forward to enjoying the sunshine and the company of good friends.

In addition to our horse-riding adventures, I’ve been reflecting on my time away from home. I’ve been thinking about Milton and hope everyone there is safe after some recent scary events. It’s been disheartening to hear about some unfortunate stories, especially concerning pets. I can’t wait to return to Florida and see my dog, Nala. I often call her by various silly names—sometimes Chuchi, which has no relation to her actual name! It’s a quirky little habit of mine.

While I enjoy various forms of art, I often find it challenging to connect with pieces deeply. However, there’s one artwork in Gon’s house that captivates me. The light in the painting is remarkable, almost as if it was captured from the wrong angle, highlighting the subject beautifully. The interplay of light and shadow adds an incredible depth to the piece, making it a standout.

Gon has an impressive collection of art, and I can’t help but feel envious of the beauty that adorns his walls. Another piece that caught my eye features a unique perspective, creating an intriguing visual effect. It’s inspiring to see how art can evoke emotions and provoke thought, and Gon’s collection does just that.

As the day continues, I’m excited about the adventure that awaits us, filled with fresh air, equestrian sports, and camaraderie. Whether it’s the thrill of polo or the peacefulness of simply enjoying good company, these experiences are what make life rich and fulfilling.

Before I sign off, I can’t help but laugh at my current appearance—my hair is a bit wild, giving me an uncanny resemblance to the Joker! But sometimes, that’s just part of the charm of travel—embracing the chaos and enjoying every minute of it.
