Angel Reese Reacts to Historic Ejection with One-Word Post

Angel Reese of the Rose

Angel Reese made history in a recent Unrivaled game by becoming the first player ever to be ejected. The event unfolded during the second quarter of the matchup between the Rose and the Laces, where Reese, a forward for the Rose, was penalized for a foul after attempting to slap the ball away from Laces’ guard Tiffany Hayes. Reese’s actions on the court—following the foul with gestures—led to a technical foul, her second of the night, resulting in her ejection from the game.

Although Reese attempted to clarify that her gestures were not directed at the referees, the officials issued the technical foul, leaving Reese no choice but to exit. This incident marked a historic moment as she became the first player in Unrivaled’s history to be ejected from a game.

In the aftermath, Reese took to X, posting a succinct one-word message: “sayless,” offering her reaction without further elaboration. Later, a fan shared a video of Reese chatting away from the court post-ejection, which Reese reposted with the caption: “free me.”

Despite Reese’s ejection, her team, the Rose, triumphed with an 83-69 victory over the Laces, securing their second win after a tough 1-4 start. The Rose managed to defeat the Laces, who are ranked second in the league with a 4-2 record. The team will face the Mist next Friday on their home court.

Before the end of the game, Reese already took to X and posted a simple one-word message after her ejection: “sayless.”

Later on, a fan posted a video of Reese chatting away from the court after her ejection. Reese reposted the video with the caption: “free me.”

Caitlin Clark Receives Her Jersey Retirement Amid Iowa’s Win Over USC

Caitlin Clark ready take the WNBA by storm: 'This is what you've worked for'

Caitlin Clark made a triumphant return to Iowa’s Carver-Hawkeye Arena not to compete, but to see her No. 22 jersey retired in a heartfelt ceremony following the Hawkeyes’ 76-67 victory over No. 4 USC. The ceremony capped off Clark’s incredible college basketball journey, marking her as the all-time leading scorer in college basketball and a key figure in the Hawkeyes’ back-to-back NCAA National Championship appearances over the past two seasons.

“I feel like I already have those butterflies in your stomach when you walk in here,” Clark said before the game. “Not for a basketball game, but to be around everybody and enjoy this environment.” It was a poignant moment for Clark, who shared smiles throughout the ceremony as her jersey ascended into the rafters.

The event drew a crowd of 14,998, including former Iowa head coach Lisa Bluder, current Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White, and former teammates Kate Martin and Gabbie Marshall. The USC coaching staff and players also remained on the court to honor Clark.

“I’m sure it wasn’t cheap to get in,” Clark joked during the ceremony, adding lightheartedness to the emotional occasion.

Clark reflected on her time at Iowa, emphasizing the importance of culture and teamwork. “The winning came because of the great culture we had,” she shared. “We had players who didn’t care how many points they scored; they did whatever it took for the team.”

Known for her confidence and self-belief, Clark also discussed the constant media attention that comes with her success. “I don’t care,” she stated confidently. “I believe in myself and in my teammates.”

Her jersey retirement came on the same day South Carolina retired A’ja Wilson’s jersey, both athletes having worn No. 22 during their respective college careers.
