In the opening minutes of their meeting, the rookie sensation drew several defenders out of the paint, leaving room for teammate Kelsey Mitchell to make a run to an open basket.

They appeared to be on the same page as Clark bounced the pass to Mitchell for a chance to score Indiana’s first points. However, without a defender in sight, Mitchell managed to miss the layup, as the ball bounced out of the rim.

Fans took to social media to slam Mitchell for the miss. Meanwhile, others went as far as claiming Clark carries the weight of the team.

Nonetheless, the Fever managed to secure a one-point lead at halftime, leading 35-34 over their guests from the Pacific Northwest.

Clark parlayed her eight points with two assists and two boards in the first two stanzas of the game.

On the other hand, Mitchell made up for her early fumble, leading the Fever in scoring with 11 points.

Additionally, Lexie Hull came off the bench to elevate Indiana with ten points in 12 minutes.

The Fever are currently seventh in the league and third in the Eastern Conference with a 12-15 record.

Clark is in a head-to-head race with collegiate rival, Angel Reese, for the Rookie of the Year honor
