USA women’s basketball picked up their second victory of the 2024 Summer Olympics with an 87-74 victory over Belgium on Thursday afternoon, and even though she’s not on the team, Caitlin Clark’s presence continues to hover over this team.

Clark was shockingly not selected to be a part of Team USA at the Olympics in Paris, which has drawn backlash from fans given how much attention she has brought to women’s basketball.

Dawn Staley, who is the head coach of South Carolina’s women’s basketball team, was part of the selection committee that ended up passing on Clark. And yet, her latest praise of Clark and how she has unified basketball fans everywhere will only further upset folks who believe Clark should be a part of Team USA this summer.

Clark has certainly helped bring basketball fans together as they admire all that she has managed to accomplish at both the collegiate level, and early on in her WNBA career with the Fever.

And yet, Staley’s comments only serve as more proof that Clark deserves to be in Paris representing her country on one of the biggest stages sports has to offer.

Clark will surely be on Team USA for future international events, but fans everywhere are still ticked off that she somehow was not selected for the 2024 Summer Olympics squad.
