The Indiana Fever, led by Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell, picked up one of their best wins of the 2024 WNBA season on Wednesday against the Connecticut Sun by a final score of 84-80.
Since the league’s return from the Olympic break, Mitchell has played her best ball, scoring over 20 points in all five games. But many think she has taken her game to another level because of her looming free agency, as her contract is set to end after this season.
With rumors swirling that Mitchell will leave the Fever in the offseason, she may have eased some discomfort from Indiana fans with her comments on playing with Clark, Aliyah Boston and the Fever after the win over the Sun.
“I think the best part about it is our chemistry continues to get better,” Mitchell said. “No one knew that we started this only like four or five months ago, and so we’re just really getting acclimated on the chemistry side.”
Mitchell then went on to discuss Clark and gave nothing but praise to the Fever rookie.
“I value what Caitlin brings to the table because not only does she have the pace and the space, but she can shoot the lights out the ball, and you just got to be ready when your number is called with a person like that,” Mitchell finished.
Mitchell finished the game against the Sun with 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting, four rebounds and three assists. The WNBA All-Star also broke the Fever record for most consecutive games with 20 or more points.
Mitchell will be one of the most sought-after free agents in 2025 and will certainly get paid well. The question remains if it will be with Indiana or another team.
