Kelsey Plum Responds to Backlash After Beating Caitlin Clark, Fever

Kelsey Plum made some waves for a bizarre halftime interview during the Las Vegas Aces’ 78-74 victory against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on Friday.

In the interview, Plum was asked about the Aces’ defense after limiting the Fever to just 13 first-quarter points and 35 in the first half.

“I don’t know. Come back to me later,” Plum said.

When asked how the Aces managed to keep the Fever from staging a comeback, Plum gave a response that was as unexpected as it was memorable.

“I don’t know, we have good players,” Plum said.

After the mid-game interview, Plum was called out for being “rude,” but she could laugh about the comments after the Aces won, moving to 24-13 this season.

“I mean, I thought we did a great job as a team, but Kelsey Mitchell was cooking,” Plum said. “She had a couple on me as well, so I didn’t want to say anything stupid. So I just said come back to me.”

Plum got ribbed by her teammate Chelsea Gray for her knack for going viral.

“I don’t even have social media on my phone,” Plum said. “No offense but, like, we have good players. I would hope so. Not disrespectful. We have competitors — pick one. That’s what I meant. People these days don’t say the truth.”

Plum finished the game with 18 points and was a game-high plus-17.

Clark finished with 18 points as well, but was shut out in the first half. Mitchell led the way for the Fever with 20 points.
