Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are under fire once again, this time for what critics are calling a “hypocritical” trip to Colombia. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have faced a scathing attack from former GB News host Petra Morgan, who lambasted the couple for what he describes as a “fake royal trip.”
Morgan, writing for The Sun, criticized the couple, asserting that they no longer perform any real duties for the monarchy that granted them their titles. “Meghan and Harry aren’t real royals these days. They don’t do any actual duties for the institution which conferred their titles on them—they just line their pockets with cash in America by constantly trashing their families, and the monarchy, in the media,” Morgan wrote.
Morgan’s critique didn’t stop there. He pointed out the perceived irony of the trip, noting, “There are so many things wrong about this. First, the laughable hypocrisy of them going to one of the world’s most dangerous places—both the UK and US government websites warn travelers to Colombia about the elevated risk of terrorism, kidnapping, rape, and robbery—after all of Harry’s whiny demands for taxpayer-funded royal security when he comes to the UK to ‘protect his family.’”
The former host also took aim at the couple’s decision to visit Colombia, a country that has been marred by political scandal. “Second, their decision to go and prop up a Colombian government that’s been bedeviled by scandal since coming to power,” he added.
This latest controversy adds to the ongoing debate about the couple’s role on the global stage since stepping back from their official royal duties. While Harry and Meghan continue to position themselves as global advocates and philanthropists, their critics argue that their actions often contradict their public statements and past grievances.
