Diddy think this was a good idea?

Wearing offensive getups seems like a Halloween tradition at this point. This year, college students have been excoriated online after donning blackface so they could masquerade as disgraced rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs for the 2024 scream season.

The controversial costume.
“Aside from the blatant and despicable blackface, this is just an incredibly lazy version of Diddy,” vented one X user while ripping the costumes (pictured).TikTok / Allegra’s Diary
The original TikTok video and the poster’s social media accounts have since been deleted, per the Daily Mail, but not before the clip blew up on X and other TikTok channels, where it amassed millions of views.

In the questionable footage, originally captioned “how the group chat dressed for Halloween,” a caucasian couple can be seen cosplaying as the “Bad Boy Records” producer, who is currently awaiting trial on sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution.

The man is seen donning blackface along with a dark blazer, red bowtie and white Adidas sneakers. Meanwhile, his blonde partner in crime sports a pink hat and matching pink shirt affixed with a sign that reads “Johnson’s baby” while holding a bottle of said product.

She was presumably referencing the federal raid that uncovered 1,000 bottles of lube and baby oil — that many accusers thought was laced with a date rape drug — in the rapper’s home.

Other costumes in the photo montage included Jesse and Woody from the “Toy Story” movies and Cruella de Vil and one of the spotted dogs from “101 Dalmatians.”

Viewers were appalled by the off-color attempt at a culturally relevant costume.

“Any excuse for blackface,” critiqued one commenter on X alongside a clip of late comedian Paul Mooney shaking his head.

“Oh wow that’s not okay at all” lamented another under a TikTok repost of the original clip.

A third wrote in the same comment section, “Not a single friend in sight to tell them ‘hey, this is a really bad idea.’”

“Bye bye college’ we all say in unison,” said another critic.

Others thought that the costume was uninspired in addition to being offensive.

“Aside from the blatant and despicable blackface, this is just an incredibly lazy version of Diddy,” fumed one X user. “He couldn’t think to wear all white or his signature glasses or ANYTHING ELSE??? A f–king red bow tie, blazer and blackface is supposed to give Diddy????”

The identity of these cretinous cosplayers remains unclear.

However, the woman who posted the controversial costume party, who is not believed to be the woman in the photo, reportedly attends San Diego State University (SDSU) in California, the Daily Mail reported.

Critics recently shared the contact info for the university and urged people to voice their displeasure with the tone-deaf stunt.

An SDSU spokesperson addressed the incident in a statement to the Daily Mail.

“Our team is working to confirm information, including the location and the names and affiliations of the individuals involved,” they declared. “We appreciate the willingness of people who have come forward to share information with the university”

The rep added, “The use of blackface and any actions making light of sexual assault are deeply offensive and have no place in a respectful, caring community.”

Unfortunately, this is far from the first time someone has come under fire for performing a modern day “minstrel show” to celebrate All Hallow’s Eve.

Earlier this month, freshman GOP Rep. Mike Lawler apologized after old photos of him masquerading as Michael Jackson while in blackface at a Halloween party were reported by the New York Times.
