Stephen Curry fond of Paris Olympics: ‘I felt like a kid again’

Stephen Curry said his latest contract extension was about winning and rated the Paris Olympics experience as a 12 out of 10.

Although he started the tournament slowly, Stephen Curry ended the 2024 Paris Olympic Games with a bang, registering 60 points in the last two games. He’s now signed a new, record-breaking contract extension with the Golden State Warriors.

At 36 years old, the window of possibly winning another NBA title is slowly closing for the sharpshooter. With his new deal expiring after the 2026-27 season, it might be the last contract he ever signs in the NBA.

“It’s not different from my perspective. You have an appreciation for the position and the opportunity, and the support from people who’ve been with you on the journey. I’ve always said I wanted to play for one team my whole career. So it’s good to get the question out of the way and give complete focus to basketball and to the season,” Curry told Marcus Thompson II from The Athletic.

It’s still about winning and taking the steps necessary to give ourselves a chance,” he later explained. “The standard hasn’t changed. The expectation hasn’t changed.”

The Warriors superstar is coming off an incredible performance in the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he sometimes single-handedly put Team USA on his back to push it to the gold medal.

After making 5 triples in 20 attempts in the first four games, Curry made 17 in 26 in the last two. He averaged just 7.25 points per game in those first four games, and he finished the tournament leading Team USA in scoring with 14.8.

“The sacrifice of what my family went through to allow me to be fully there, it just gave me the ability to play basketball and try to have as much fun as possible. It was one of those pure moments that will stand out when you look back on your life and the experiences you had,” Curry said.

“It was the most surreal feeling, especially the way it ended. I felt like a kid again. A 12-out-of-10 experience.”
