It seems everyone has something to say when it comes to Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark. Good or bad, the youngster seems to always be in the headlines, whether it’s thanks to her play on the court or someone making a comment off it.

Sheryl Swoopes is someone who has never shied away from sharing her thoughts on the former Iowa Hawkeye, and it’s now brought Nancy Lieberman into the mix.

Indiana Fever trolls Caitlin Clark after a bizzare question

On the latest episode of ‘The Stephen A. Smith’ podcast, Smith asked Lieberman for her thoughts on how Swoopes has covered Clark.

Swoopes attracted plenty of criticism when she stated that Clark broke the NCAA Division I career scoring record by playing five years and averaging 40 shots, when she in fact did it in her fourth year while averaging 22.7 shots per game. That’s when Lieberman contacted Swoopes.

“I called her as a friend and I said, ‘you know you can say whatever you want. You can have your own opinion about anybody but you have to get the statistics right,” she told Smith.

This seemingly led to a rift between Lieberman and SwoopesLieberman also experienced something similar with Teresa Weatherspoon.

After Clark was flagrantly fouled by Chennedy ClarkLieberman stated on ‘Run It Back’ on FanDuel TV how she would have handled the situation.

“I would have walked up to whoever did that to me and punched them in the face,” she said, which caught the attention of Weatherspoon.

Lieberman added: “We had a conversation, and I said, ‘Spoon, I didn’t say she should punch Chennedy Carter in the face’.”

While all seems to be well with Weatherspoon, that doesn’t appear to be the case with Swoopes.

“I still think she was incorrect about what she did, and you know we all have to be professional,” she added.

Swoopes’ takes causing controversy

Swoopes made headlines back in August when she failed to mention Clark while discussing the Fever’s improved play.

His prompted Stephen A. Smith to state: “You know good and damn well, you had no business talking about the Indiana Fever without mentioning Caitlin Clark.”

Swoopes didn’t take the comment lightly, responding she can talk about whoever and whatever she wants. However, Lieberman then commented that “my life is good or great with or wihout Sheryl Swoopes” – it seemed to strike a chord with the 4x champion.

“Now here you go! I get what you’re trying to do with ya boy @stephenasmith, but it ain’t working. You know good and well what happened. And ditto… my life is good without you too (and him). You wanna go there?,” Swoopes wrote on X a few hours later.
