Just weeks after the tragic passing of Liam Payne, one of his exes has gone from mourning the past to celebrating the future.

Sophia Smith, who famously dated Liam back in 2013-2015, around the height of One Direction‘s popularity, is getting married! Her boyfriend James Bridgwood popped the question on Christmas Day, as their 1-year-old daughter Angelina looked on.

The influencer posted a beautiful black and white video of the entire proposal, captioning it:

It’s wonderful that after such a big shock she could end the year on a beautiful note.

Sophia never spoke publicly about Liam’s passing. But the couple, who went to school together back before he got famous, were really serious for a moment. He said once they’d even talked about marriage… Though ultimately they decided to go solo, as it were, back in October 2015.
